about
Hall Community Service Club, led by Sophia Ellavsky and Ashley Granquist, hosts an annual 24 Hour Famine charity event to raise awareness and money towards fighting hunger. Participants of the event fast for 24 hours and break the fast with a feast! Last year, 130 student participants were able to raise $7,000 for Foodshare, a local humanitarian aid organization that fights hunger. We were also able to educate our community on hunger through our TEDx Guest Speaker and author John Mandyck as well as Foodshare owner Jason Jakubowski, and mayor Shari Cantor. Furthermore, our event has been recognized by CT Senator Beth Bye as well as the Aurora Foundation.
