Details about 24 hour famine

Farmers Market

In 2017, Hall Community Service Club hosted its first annual, 24 Hour Famine. Last year, 130 students participated in the 24 hour fast, raising nearly $9,000! We gave our money to an organization, World Vision, which helps hungry people around the globe.

This year, Hall Community Service Club's 24 Hour Famine hopes to involve more of the community. By reaching out to Foodshare and West Hartford Food Pantry, we wish to make change within the Greater Hartford and Connecticut area.

24 Hour Famine is an event where participants fast for 24 hours to raise awareness and donations towards fighting hunger.

Throughout the day, participating students can only drink water and juice. After school, students play games, such as: dodgeball. Right before the feast, Hall hosts an expert speaker to educate the participants on hunger and the terrible issue facing our world and community. After that, we break the fast! With help from our local restaurants and Hall foods classes, students eat at 6:00PM, ending their 24 hour fast.
